A paladin’s strength in the arena as in anything is his ability to survive, much to the frustration of his opponent. He has the bonuses of plate armor and the abilities to bubble up and heal himself which make him the armadillo of the arenas. In the arena, the paladin’s best strategy is to go for a healer support role. The dps paladins can do in arenas is not worth nearly as much as their healing. Their Blessing of Protection, Sacrifice, Aura, and dispel spells make them valuable in arenas. Although Paladins can also play the role of defense and damage dealer, he will ultimately be a greater asset to his team as a healer, so for the arenas he should spec in holy tree and dawn a 1-handed healing weapon and a healing shield.
The right gear can be very helpful for the arena Paladin. The best PVP gear can be got with battleground honor points or with arena points. The more arena points he gets the better the Paladin arena gear and Paladin arena weapons he can get the more easily he can get more arena points by being a better asset to his team. And in arenas, it’s all about team work, so the Paladin’s role as healer and supporter to the rest of the team is very important.
The arena paladin must be aware of what’s going on with his teammates at all times so he can react quickly when someone needs a heal or a cleanse. Another important role for the Paladin is his stunning ability. The Paladin must therefore also pay attention to the opposing team; if someone is running away with low health, the paladin can use Hammer of Justice to stun them. Another time stunning is useful is when rogues use cloak of shadows or when healers are getting ready to heal. So the main thing is to be aware of what’s going on and know when it’s the right time to throw out a heal, a cleanse, or a stun. If the arena Paladin can master these three tactics, he will help his arena team greatly.
