To be successful in World of Warcraft arenas, the priest will have to be good at evading his enemies. As a cloth wearer and healer, the arena priest will be a likely and easy first target. If the opponent can take out the priest first, they will eliminate the healer and thus weaken the whole team. Bottom line is, the WoW priest must stay out of harms way and do his thing from a distance or he will be completely useless to his team as he watches the rest of the fight as a corpse. Choice of priest arena gear can make a major difference as well by giving the arena priest more resilience and stamina.
Having said that, the arena priest that can stay alive can be a huge asset to his arena team. His arsenal of abilities when used tactfully, can decide a battle. The arena priest is a powerful healer which can obviously help by keeping the team alive to outlast their opponents. The arena priest can also help minimize damage to his team by fearing the opponent that can potentially do the most damage. Or throw out a psychic scream when his team is taking too much damage. Mana burn is another important ability in the arena priest’s arsenal. If he can drain his opponents’ mana he can keep them from turning that mana into damage done to his team. The priest’s power word shield and dispel abilities are others of his very powerful spells. When used just at the right moments, these abilities allow the priest to effectively control the battle to his arena team’s favor. Although mastering the nuances of the battle strategy can be a challenge, the arena priest with enough skill can effectively manipulate his opponents in the arena and thus help win arena points for his team.
